TR Recapture is a comprehensive, patented technological solution that enables public bodies to track, monitor and manage the organic fraction of municipal waste.

Organic matter accounts for the largest percentage by weight of municipal waste. If it is not separated correctly, it contaminates the other fractions and makes treatment extremely difficult. Our technology tackles this challenge from the source (homes, restaurants, cafés and hotels) right through to the treatment plant.

Pay-as-you-throw: The ‘Radar’ of Sustainability

Operating with the precision of a traffic radar, TR Recapture facilitates the implementation of differentiated waste charges based on the “polluter pays” principle, in line with Directive (EU) 2018/851Advanced End-to-End Technology

Our patented solution integrates seamlessly into waste management operators’ current processes (lorries, bins or door-to-door systems) through four technological pillars: Sorting and Quality Control Plant (Micro-Scale)

  • RFID Trackers: Retrievable and reusable technological spheres.
  • Urban Dispensers: Automated equipment for distributing spheres to the public.
  • Smart Sorting Plant: Modular infrastructure equipped with Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, X-rays and Big Data.
  • Platform & App: Control panel, reports and real-time data visualisation.

Supplied entirely by Therecirculars, this optimised modular plant (approx. 1,000 m²) operates in an automated and circular manner:

  1. Secure Reception: The lorry unloads onto a conveyor belt designed to prevent the loss of spheres due to bag ruptures.
  2. AI and X-ray inspection: Bag by bag, the system uses X-rays and Artificial Intelligence to assess the degree of separation, classifying the waste as OK or NO OK.
  3. Circular recovery: The bags are opened and the RFID beads are recaptured, washed and reintroduced into the system. As they are reusable and can be recycled, they prevent the generation of new waste.

Recovery and Local Circular Economy (Another potential contribution to European energy sovereignty)

Depending on the automated classification, the waste follows two paths: Total flexibility: Therecirculars can implement the TR Recapture solution exclusively for traceability and quality control, or expand it to include the in-line biogas plant.

  • ‘OK’ Fraction (Correctly Sorted): This is sent directly for composting or biogas production using modular equipment adapted to local volumes. It produces local biogas and liquid fertilisersboosting European energy and agricultural sovereignty.
  • ‘NO OK’ Fraction (Containing Inappropriate Materials): Bags containing materials that are unacceptable due to their volume, hazardous nature or risk of contaminating the compost are safely diverted to traditional treatment plants.
